KRCB copyOn September 13, 2012, Amanda spoke with Gil Mansergh, host of public radio KRCB’s literary program “Word by Word” in an extended interview that touched on some of the hidden themes of the book, including the fact that many of the characters are written to be “racially relative,” that is, they can be seen (and indeed are seen) as African American or as white depending upon the reader.
